About Vital Signs

Vital Signs is a national program led by community foundations and coordinated by Community Foundations of Canada (CFC). Vital Signs uses local knowledge to measure the vitality of a community and support action towards improving collective quality of life.

Local data gathered through the program is used to support evidence-based, locally-relevant solutions to improve the quality of life at the community level. Vital Signs aims to inspire civic engagement, to provide focus for public debate, and to help a range of actors take action and direct resources where they will have the greatest impact.

This year, The Temiskaming Foundation is launching our very first Vital Signs report. We've identified key areas that are uniquely important to our community, and we're working with organizations in our area to leverage local knowledge and measure community vitality.

We plan on publishing our first comprehensive report detailing our findings, highlighting the best our community has to offer and identifying key action items to inspire positive change- working together to share in the growth of our community.

  • Endowment Building

Vitality takes long-term resources for long-term solutions—so we work with donors to build endowment funds that ensure vital futures for communities.

  • Grant Making

Vitality comes from all corners of a community, so we grant funds to the widest possible range of organizations and initiatives.

  • Leadership

Vitality needs leadership, so we bring people together from all parts of our communities to stimulate new ideas, build participation and strengthen community philanthropy.

This project wouldn't be possible without the help of many organizations in our community. These organizations have graciously contributed to our research by providing data, assistance and specialized knowledge to help us gain a better understanding of the different facets of our community. We appreciate your help!
